Compacted wire rope (also called drawn wire rope or Warrington-Seale compacted) is a wire rope in which the outer wires of each strand have been drawn through a die after stranding, compressing and reshaping the wires to fill voids between them. This compaction process increases the metallic
cross-section of each strand by 10-20% within the same overall rope diameter — delivering a higher breaking load, better contact area on drums and sheaves, and improved resistance to abrasion and crushing.
